The Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) is the leading biomedical research cluster in Southern Europe where 1.400 people from 52 countries work in several research centres in one open space connected to a university hospital and having an aggregated annual research budget of approx. 100M€.
This public initiative of the Government of Catalonia, the City Council of Barcelona and the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), is with 55.000 m2 a large scientific infrastructure that gathers together six public research centers closely coordinated amongst them in an inter-institutional coalition.
PRBB generates high quality biomedical knowledge, because basic discovery today provides the foundation for tomorrow’s medicine. The park was inaugurated in May 2006 and is fully operative.
The centres
The independent research organisations located in the PRBB form an inter-institutional coalition and are connected to one another via the open-plan layout. They focus on investigation into human health and biomedicine in a building that promotes synergies and collaboration.
